What have I learned about the Design Process?
A few things that I learned about the design process is that there are two distinguishing aspects, content, and form. Content meaning what the story is, what the artist is trying to get across and form, how the art physically looks. Something that I personally like is aesthetic, aesthetic is when something looks nice essentially, I personally tend to do that a lot and practice it in my art and also every day activities. Another thing I learned was about the creative process and how it consists of three main things, thinking, looking, and doing. When creating art I learned that at times you have to think of many things depending on what the art is going to be used for or what audience is going to be seeing the art, for example sometimes you might have to consider imaging, fonts, symbols, colors, medium, size, patterns, etc. For the source vs subject portion of the presentation I learned that the source means "the stimulus for the image or idea" and subject means "the content of the work or the way the artists saw the object." Something really interesting that I never heard of before was vernacular which essentially means a picture or piece of art that is often reproduced for example The Mona Lisa. Overall I learned many things about the Design Process and I'm excited to learn more as the semester goes by.
Vanesa, I enjoyed how you included your personal feelings on Aesthetic. I also do believe the aesthetic of something draws me into pieces I liked. It is pleasing to the eye. I also have never heard of Vernacular, it is a cool word with an important meaning. Great way to add this to your blog!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your great detail into the Design principles. I always find it easier to learn about something new when I can compare it to something I already know and you did just that. Connecting the design principles to your Art form really brought them to life. As a poet, I am excited to see how I can use this course to expand my work!
